No file? Try a real AI-made GIF

Drop in a GIF or sprite sheet you already have, or try a sample. You get a looping pixel art animation that sits on one pixel grid with a small palette, ready as a GIF or as a transparent sprite sheet with a JSON atlas for your game.

How well does the pixel art animation tool work?

The cleaning step was last tested on 2026-11-05: 20 of 20 cleaned GIFs have at most 16 colors and every pixel matches its own grid cell (100%); the raw files had a median of 221 colors and only 2 of 20 matched a grid at 90%. Read the full numbers, look at the examples or follow the step-by-step guide.

What the pixel art animation generator gives you

It finds the size of one pixel in the picture, reduces every cell to one color, builds one palette of 8, 16 or 32 colors for the whole animation and writes the frames at their true small size. You can leave frames out, change the speed, play forward and back and choose a game palette such as PICO-8 or Game Boy.

Frequently asked questions

Is this pixel art animation maker free?

Cleaning your own GIF, trying the samples and every export are free without an account. AI drawing is available with a daily free allowance. Paid checkout is in test mode and is not yet available for public purchases.

Do I need to sign up to get my first animation?

No. The samples, upload tools and exports work without an account.

What do I get when I download?

A looping GIF, a transparent PNG sprite sheet with a JSON atlas, the single frames as a ZIP, and an everything pack that also lists the palette. Sizes and colors are shown before you download.

Why not just ask an image model for pixel art?

Models draw something that looks like pixel art, but the squares are rarely on one grid and the colors drift between frames. In a test of 20 raw clips the median had 221 colors. This tool measures the real pixel size and gives the whole animation one small palette.
